Surroundings

“Chez la Fontaine” is situated on the outside of the village Géfosse-Fontenay. A country-village with only 115 inhabitants.
In this village there are two small castles and opposite to “Chez la Fontaine” is the old village wash-place ‘La Fontaine’ (meaning: spring)
Just near “Chez la Fontaine” there is a tenniscourt.

Widely the farm is 500 meters from the coast, by foot it is about 1500 meters. At low tide you will see oyster- and musselhatcheries on the extensive beaches.
Everything is situated between the invasion beaches of 1944, ‘Omaha-beach’ and ‘Utah-beach’. Near to Omaha beach there is a golf-course for those who like this sport (27 holes).

A few kilometer inside the country you'll find the Cotentin and Besssin Marshlands, with a beautiful flora and fauna.
A nice coast-place at five kilometres distance is Grandcamp-Maisy. With its daily fish-market and snug shops it’s worth a visit.
From this village it is possible to visit ‘Pointe du Hoc’ by boat as well as visit the little bird-island ‘Ile St. Marcouf’.
Isigny sur Mer (also five kilometres) is famous for its caramel and cheeses.
A bigger city in the environs is Bayeux, with the word-famous tapistry of Reine Mathilde and his immense cathedral.
Near Balleroy you can find a beautiful forest and a little bit further from us, about one hour and a half by car, is Mont St-Michel.
